Why did the framers of the Constitution grant the House of Representatives the most "power of the purse" (taxation & spending)?

The House had the most influence over the President

and the executive branch, and was therefore given the power to control spending and taxation in order to keep the executive in check and prevent abuse of power. Additionally, the framers wanted to ensure that the power to tax and spend was not concentrated in the hands of a few individuals or groups, but rather dispersed throughout the people's representatives in Congress.
