The Georgian people were involved in World War I on the side of the Russian Empire. The Georgian Legion, a volunteer force of Georgian soldiers, was formed in 1915 and fought alongside the Russian Army in the Caucasus and Galicia. The Georgian Legion was disbanded in 1917 after the Russian Revolution.
