What is the process of conception and gastation?

Conception is the process of fertilization, when a sperm cell from the male combines with an egg cell from the female to form a single cell called a zygote. This zygote then divides and multiplies to form an embryo.

Gestation is the period of time between conception and birth, during which the embryo develops into a fetus and grows inside the mother's uterus. During this time, the fetus receives nourishment from the mother's placenta and umbilical cord. The average gestation period is 40 weeks.
