Marcus Garvey was a Jamaican political leader, publisher, journalist, and orator who was a proponent of the Black nationalism and Pan-African movements, to which he gave the motto "Africa for the Africans". He founded the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League (UNIA-ACL).
