Most of the world's volcanoes are located along the edges of the Earth's tectonic plates, particularly around the Pacific Ring of Fire. This area is home to over 450 active volcanoes, stretching from the western coast of South America, up through Central America, across the Bering Strait, and down through Japan and New Zealand.
