A bus plies between two towns P and Q via town Q daily. On each day it departs from P at 8:15am and stops for 40 minutes at Q proceeding to R. On a certain day, the bus took 5 hours 40 minutes to travel to P to Q and 3 hours 15 minutes to travel from Q to R. Find ,in 24 hour clock system, the time the bus arrived at R

Love those plying buses

So all we are doing in effect is adding up the 3 times
5:40 + 0:40 + 3:15
= 8 hours and 95 minutes = 9:35

now add that to 8:15 to get

8:15 + 9:35
= 17:50

Hint: if you have a scientific calculator you should have a button with
label DMS, which is used to add degrees, minutes and second ,
which are units of angle measurement
But, since time and angle measurement involve base 60,
we can use that button to add times.
here: press these keys, in this sequence
8 DMS 15 = +
5 DMS 40 = +
0 DMS 40 = +
3 DMS 15 =

and you should see 17° 50' 0"
interpret that as 17:50
