In each of the situations below it seems that a new substance may have been produced. Explain why each situation represents a physical change

A) a tailor makes a new suit out of a piece of fabric

The fabric of the piece of cloth is the SAME fabric that's in the suit. The tailor did not alter the kind of fabric by cutting or sewing it.

Think about this. If I take a pair of scissors and cut a piece of paper in half, what do I have? I have doubled the pieces of paper but I still have paper. It's the same color, the same compositon and except for the slice in the paper and the size, you can't tell them apart. It's the same as a glass of water. You pour half of the water down the sink. But the water in the glass still is H2O. It didn't change at all. All of these are physical changes. The ONLY time a chemical change takes place is when the composition of the substance is change.
