I wanted to know if Brainly is better or if Jiskha is better. Can you guys give me some advantages and disadvantages of each?
I have looked at Brainly a number of times and most of the answers I see there are very good. The primary advantage of Brainly, as I see it, is that often the answer gives the "whole" picture; i.e., the question is answered BUT the answer is put in context of the bigger problem. That way the students get a background of the theory as well as getting the question answered. For Jiskha, often the students gets the quick answer and not much of the background. Frankly, I think it's good to look at both as a way of getting more out of the learning process. The bottom line is that the web is a great place to LEARN but many many many of the students just want the answer and they don't want to think. Look at all of the "quick check" questions as well as the "please give me the answers to unit 7 part II of so and so class. The web is a great learning tool but some students use it as a cheating tool. That's my quick take.

I hope more and more students go to Brainly, and unclog Jiskha of all the cheaters. This unrelenting cheating, the ridiculous First Names, and the even more ridiculous demands for answers right now and for answers for the whole test (and on and on) have driven away many of the original tutors. Jiskha's loss … and ultimately our country's loss, too, because all these non-thinkers will be voters someday. =(
