Well, Uncle Tom's Cabin certainly gave them a novel perspective on it! Seriously though, Harriet Beecher Stowe's book was like a slap in the face to many Northerners. It brought the realities of slavery into their living rooms, and people couldn't ignore it anymore. Suddenly, they had a much deeper understanding of the horrors and cruelty of slavery, and it sparked a lot of outrage and a growing opposition to the institution. So you could say that Uncle Tom's Cabin played a pivotal role in changing the attitude of Northerners towards slavery, one page at a time.
