we were also confused on what 3+(-1)+5+2+4 was and what 2+6+4+(-4)+(-3) was bc we didnt understand
1} 3+[-1]+5+2+4
3+[-1]
3-1= 2
2+5+2+4
=13
2} 2+6+4+[-4]+[-3]
2+6+4
=12
12 [-4]
12 -4 = 8
8 +[-3]
8 - 3 = 5
