What is Wahhabism? Where does it has the most influence?

Wahhabism is a conservative and ultra-orthodox sect of Sunni Islam. It was founded by Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab in the 18th century in the region that is now known as Saudi Arabia. Wahhabism adheres to a strict interpretation of Islamic teachings, placing a strong emphasis on the literal interpretation of the Quran and Hadith (sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad).
To understand the influence of Wahhabism, it is important to recognize that Saudi Arabia, particularly the region of Najd, is the birthplace and historical center of this ideology. Being the custodian of the two holiest sites in Islam, Mecca and Medina, Saudi Arabia has significant religious influence worldwide.
Wahhabism has gained prominence and exerted its influence beyond Saudi Arabia primarily due to the kingdom's vast financial resources. Since the 20th century, Saudi Arabia has used its oil wealth to fund and promote Wahhabi teachings around the world, particularly in Muslim-majority countries.
