Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy was born in Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh. He is the son of former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Y S Rajasekhar Reddy. Jagan was elected as Member of Parliament in 2009. After fathers’ demise, he formed a party called YSRCP in 2011. He was the Leader of Opposition in the AP Legislative Assembly from 2014 to 2019.

YSRCP had won 151 seats of the 175 seats in the elections to the Legislative Assembly in 2019. Jagan represented Pulivendula. He became the second Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh after its division in 2014.
