Julia is allowed to watch no more than 5 hours of television a week. So far this week, she has watched 1.5 hours. Write and solve an inequality to show how many hours of television Julia can still watch this week?

Because Julia can watch 5 hours of TV a week, but no more than that, then the inequality for that is x≤5

Since Julia has watched 1.5 hours so far, we have a new inequality of 1.5+x≤5 and x will be how many hours she'll have left to watch TV.

1.5+x≤5
x≤3.5

So Julia, in conclusion, has 3.5 hours left to watch TV until she reaches her maximum of 5 hours.

Why do we have to do an inequality when we can do 5 - 1.5 = 3.5🤣🤣.

happy new year thanks yall

Thank you so much AJ L! This really helped and is a great explanation.

THANK YOU

so helpful

sadly that just school

thank u so much

thx :D

what about the second one?

@LOL that's exactly what I said!!

@CalCaMath

Yes, but some people need help with math no matter what. Some of the kids in this world are stuck on things. We need information about the answer and how to solve the problem. It's best to use the information you get from the answer and put it in your own sentence.

@LOL ...if you do 5 - 1.5 = 3.5, you are using an equation (because of the equal sign). So you're saying the number of hours is equal to 3.5, which means she has to watch EXACTLY 3.5 hours. Of course she could watch 3.5 hours OR LESS. The "or less" part is why we use an inequality.

@Hi, yes if you copy someone else's work you are plagiarizing. Your teachers have message boards and lots of resources to help you, so there's no need to copy work.

*Unfortunately

U know if u copy the same thing you can get playgerrise
