what do you think will happen to a pulse signal (voltage is applied for a short period of time only) when it is applied to a transmission line? Will the pulse reach the end of the transmission line? What will happen if the end of the transmission line is shorted or left open?

the pulse deterioates in shape as it traverses the line. If the end is shorted, or open, thata deterioated pulse is reflected.
