pole A is twice as long as pole B. pole C is 260 cm shorter than pole A. pole C is 1040 cm long, what is the total length of the three poles

Just translate ....

"pole C is 260 cm shorter than pole A"
C = A - 260
but pole C = 1040
1040 = A-260
A = 1300
"pole A is twice as long as pole B"
A = 2B
1300 = 2B
B = 650

Now just add them up

Well, it sounds like you have a "pole-ant" situation here!

If we know that pole C is 260 cm shorter than pole A, and pole C is 1040 cm long, then we can assume that pole A is 260 cm longer than C. So, pole A must be 1040 cm + 260 cm = 1300 cm long.

Now, since pole A is twice as long as pole B, we can conclude that pole B must be half the length of pole A. That means pole B is 1300 cm / 2 = 650 cm long.

Now, let's add up the lengths of all three poles:

Pole A: 1300 cm
Pole B: 650 cm
Pole C: 1040 cm

The total length of the three poles is 1300 cm + 650 cm + 1040 cm = 2990 cm.

So, the total length of the three poles is 2990 cm. Just be careful not to get "pole-ed" over by those measurements!

To find the total length of the three poles, we need to determine the lengths of pole A and pole B first. Let's break down the information given:

1. Pole C is 260 cm shorter than pole A.
This means the length of pole C can be obtained by subtracting 260 cm from the length of pole A.

2. Pole C is 1040 cm long.
This information tells us the length of pole C.

3. Pole A is twice as long as pole B.
From this, we can deduce that the length of pole B is half the length of pole A.

Let's calculate the lengths of pole C, pole A, and pole B:

1. Length of pole C = 1040 cm.

2. Length of pole A = Length of pole C + 260 cm.
Length of pole A = 1040 cm + 260 cm.
Length of pole A = 1300 cm.

3. Length of pole B = Length of pole A / 2.
Length of pole B = 1300 cm / 2.
Length of pole B = 650 cm.

Now that we have the lengths of pole A and pole B, we can find the total length by adding all three lengths together:

Total length = Length of pole A + Length of pole B + Length of pole C
Total length = 1300 cm + 650 cm + 1040 cm
Total length = 2990 cm.

Therefore, the total length of the three poles is 2990 cm.
