There are specific dates, this recount spans a long period of time in the narrator’s life, it is in 1st person point of view, and only significant times in this narrator’s life were chosen to be included. These characteristics make this piece

a memoir

an autobiography

a diary entry

a personal narrative

B or c but i think its more c
There is a vivid description of the setting, the narrator is speaking in 1st person, the narrator is recounting a memory, and characters/dialogue are included. These characteristics make this piece

an autobiography

a journal entry

a diary entry

a memoir

D

I agree with your second answer, but not your first answer.

i know why its not c now because its not arranged by dates its B

Yes, right.

Both would seem to be memoirs. An autobiography strives to be a complete accounting of one's life. A memoir recounts memories of specific events, or even one event, not the full life story.

I disagree, but jimm will need to decide!

Yes, I see. :) You and I posted, apparently, almost simultaneously. Memoir has traditionally been classified as a sub-genre of autobiography, so question #1 can be called an autobiography. I also note the refinement, if you will, of the definition as noted in the Wikipedia entry. I also note that Carol Channing and Roger Angell wrote reminiscences that they carefully said were not autobiographies, but memoirs, since they dealt with specific memories, not the life story.

And Maya Angelou has written several that are called autobiographies. Each is fascinating. =)

So I understand! I have not read hers yet, but intend to. In a way it is splitting hairs to separate memoir from autobiography. Memoirs are certainly autobiographical. Jimm should go with whatever his teacher or class materials define these terms.

To determine the correct answer, let's review the characteristics of each option:

A) Memoir: A memoir is a narrative that focuses on a specific aspect or period of a person's life. It is usually written in first person and includes significant events.

B) Autobiography: An autobiography is a comprehensive account of a person's life, usually written by that person themselves.

C) Diary entry: A diary entry typically involves a personal record of daily events, thoughts, and feelings.

D) Personal narrative: A personal narrative is a story told from a first-person point of view, often based on personal experiences.

Based on the given characteristics, the correct answer would be D) personal narrative. The description provided includes elements of a first-person perspective, vivid description of the setting, recounting a memory, and the inclusion of characters/dialogue, all of which are consistent with a personal narrative.
