Dissertations ahve been written on these: Good luck holding it to such a short length.

Let us know how we can help you. I think I might pick central Americans as another group, and Cubans as the fourth. Much information is available on those.

Here is the first part f the homework as I have completed it nd seem to understand it:

The Mexican American Students have and still do experience a diverse complex environment and sometimes a hostile one. The American school system does not exactly cater to making sure that they have an enjoyable experience at school, free of ridicule and embarrassment. It is also the adults who experience a rough road on the way to trying to be accepted.
Politically, there are a few things taking place that you may not think to be really happening. For instance, Mexico is marrying the United States for lack of a better term. The dual citizenship is growing stronger and stronger every day and the two governments may soon be one, as they are becoming more and more intertwined. There was a time, not long ago, when the Mexican government preferred neither to mention nor even to acknowledge the existence of American citizens of Mexican ancestry.
Now, since we are entering an age with more of this taking place let us talk about the socialism and economics for the Mexican American entity. The social behavior between each other is a very strong and close bond, but when it comes to bonding or attempting to bond with Americans, the result is not always the same. Mexican Americans are like Mexican in terms of friendliness, but they just want the same in return. As far as the economic growth or stun is concerned, the Mexican American community is blessed with a lot of work in the U.S. Mostly, you will find that they tend to migrate towards work like construction and building of sorts. The money is good and guaranteed, and provides the stability that other jobs may not.
Religion and familial conventions of the race are similar to American beliefs. All are strong in family beliefs and have a feeling towards each other that Americans do not possess all of the time though. Americans are too busy with life to stop and say hello to a family member or let them know they love them but Mexican American are not that way. As far as religion, their beliefs are the same as ours, Pentecostal, Baptist, etc.
All of this is interesting in its own respect, but how different do you think it is with Puerto Ricans? I’ll tell you this, most of everything I have told you so far also stem back to Puerto Rico and its citizens and their beliefs.

That is just for one groupand it is already at 464 of the originally requested word count. Good Luck

Hey Chad, I also have to complete the same asignment and I was very confused as to what was expected and from your posting I can see that I was making a bigger deal than what I should. I thought it would be impossible to write that many words for this assignment but I see it's nothing. I might very easily go over the required word count.

i c u go 2 university of phoenix

it might help if you actually READ chapter 9

WELL...... i did read it but i cant find it so .............yea!!!!!! but tou seem to be a know-it-all so plz help us!!!!!!!!!

This is funny I am in the same class at UOP. This is crazy that this many people go to school there and look for help at the same spots.

Kambriea... do happen to mean google? :P

omg i need help on this too!! i absolutly do not understand the economic part of mexican american!!!!!! anyone help!?!?!?!?!

Yes, it is funny that we all have the same school and we are all confused at the same questions.

I to have read the chapter 9 and I am just as confused as I was when I started. Other than on the economic side that mexican Americans make less money because they have an accent. That's nuts...IT'S MAKING ME CRAZY! I HAVE BEEN ON THIS FOR 3 DAYS NOW AND AM NO CLOSER THAN WHEN I STASTRED

I'm in the same class and now and i have no idea what to write. The assignment is not clear. i don't get from the text what the assignment is asking for.

I have the same assignment and cannot find anything I like to use as references.

I am in the same class at Axia and even by reading the text, it is hard. These assignments do not explain things very well. I hate it.

I just had to stop in here when I was searching google for linguistic status for Cuban american when I saw so many hits... I'm glad im not the only one having issues with this chapter 9 assignemnt... i still cant seem to come up with a solid 4th race and ive been on this for a few days... the others wernt so bad to figure out.. if anyone sees this while taking ETH/125 start this one a little early... you will be less stressed by Saturday...

yeah. I hate how the instructions on the assignments at AXIA are not always on point. I am having a hard time doing this assignment. 4 different groups?? THey should have kept it at two. I'm stuck and not getting anywhere and the answers I do find I can not use as references.

I'm glad it's not just me. Misery loves company. Normally I'm pretty good at padding out an assignment to make the minimum word requirements but I think I'm screwed this time. Plus I'm sure it's going to be at least one day late.

I am in this class. I found it best to start with one group and finish all the questions. For instance talk about the Mexican American's, about linguistic (which is language), political, religous. Type each one of those in, and you should be fine. I will provide what I have done so far.

Mexican American’s have high linguistic skills, but speak mainly Spanish.

According to Schmal (2004), “39% of Mexican American’s spoke indigenous languages

in the 1870’s.” This dropped drastically with statistics showing only 10.7%

who spoke indigenous languages, in the 1990 census. As for political aspects, most

people think that Mexican American’s have little effect on electoral politics. “Although

they are not allowed to vote, they affect electoral politics through census enumerations,”

says Rosenfeld (n.d.). It is said that Mexican American’s are passive and cynical when it

comes to electoral politics. In The United States there is, however, millions of Mexican

American’s who are less democratic than Mexico, so this isn’t very convincing. Socially,

most Mexican American’s do not fit in. They are discriminated against, even when it

comes to the law officer’s. It is hard for Mexican American’s to have social interaction

when it comes to the American citizen’s because it is hard to understand their language,

or they can’t speak English. Economically, Mexican American’s do not have a high

chance of achievement. It is known that Mexican American’s do not receive high

education. When it comes to jobs, and pursuing high economic goals, it is almost

impossible. Most will not get their high school diploma. In today’s society, this is needed

almost everywhere. They usually get minimum pay at jobs they do work at. Religion is

plays a very important role in the lives of Mexican American’s. Most are Roman

Catholics, although some follow other religions such as Jehovah’s Witnesses,

Evangelical, and the Church of Christ of Latter Day Saints. Most festival’s that are held

revolve around their religion. They are very family oriented. They try to live close to

each other, finding houses close together. Mexican American’s are not hard to please, and
Page 2

they are very hard working.

Puerto Ricans speak Spanish, although it is different than Spanish spoken in other

regions. They have a widespread ability to speak English. In the political aspects,

according to Green (n.d.), “President Woodrow Wilson signed the Jones Act, which

helped Puerto Ricans in American citizenship.” After this, the government instituted

measures to help Puerto Ricans find more jobs. Socially Puerto Ricans are good with

communication with American’s because they can speak good English. They have the

ability to learn at a close distance to the American society. “Economically, Puerto Ricans

are declining, steadily losing ground in terms of labor, welfare dependency, and poverty

status,” Jenson and Tienda (n.d.). Eighty five percent of religious Puerto Ricans are

Roman Catholic. The other fifteen percent makes up with Protestant and other religions.

Puerto Ricans value family, including second and third generation family members. They

also prefer extended families.

Cubans

This is where I am so far, and have a 448 word count. Try to stick to 300 words or less on each group, and their comparisons.

i am so confused when it comes to familial conventions, i have been stuck on mexican americans for 5 hours. help

I am so damned annoyed! Not only do these people ask you to do a boat load of crap, its a boat load of vauge impossible crap. I hate this, and whoever thought this was a good assignment need to be shot in the foot! I been stuck on this thing for about 3hrs. I guess they ran out of bad ideas so the created an impossible one.

I agree with majority of you. This assignment and many others are GARBAGE! I do not understand why they make us do assignments, such as this one and expect us to understand off of a CHAPTER that does not make any sense to what the assignment is.

Hey check this out you guys!!!! This websites saved the day for me!!

everyculture dot com
It had everything I needed and way more. That is not to say that I didn't first get help from you, Angela, So thank you. Remember, the harder the task, the more hefty the pay off. : ) Good luck!

I understand why they want us to work on the gist of this assignment. It is important to understand the diversity of the different races and ethnic groups in this nation and world. I do not, however, understand how they can expect us to understand specific groups within a weeks time to find and produce a productive essay on this subject. I can possibly fumble across information and piece it together. But I cannot fully understand to make this an A+ assignment. The cards are stacked against me before hand. Thanks for the people that have found info and is available to share. That gives me some ideas, and at least a place to start. Good luck, and if I find anything new, I will add to this later.

i have slowly been trying to find info. on this assignment all week and have been unsuccessful! If i do find some info., i can not use the references, or it is talking about the specific culture- but not in the US. This assignment sucks, to say the least. I'm stuck and do not know what to do! I have little info on 3 groups, and cant even pick a 4th group. HELPPP!

I'm having the exact same problem. Same class, same assignment and other than what I can find in Chapter 9 of the textbook, I can't find anything about these groups that I can use as a credible resource. This sucks!!!!!

Ok, so first I want to say that it is ETHNICS, not ethics... but yes I am also having difficulty with this one, just like the rest of you, but the thing is that it is a research paper, where you have to research the topic... research... meaning, search for info. The only thing mentioned about chapter 9 in the assignment description is when it says "... and two groups of your choice from cahpter 9..." It never says that you must use chapter 9 to do it... just to point you in the right direction, look elsewhere than the text. The text book is just word vomit from an author that needed to get their masters, it's too difficult to translate into and explanitory factual paper without exploring other authors work.

I have this assignment and can't find any information on the familial conventions of Mexican Americans. Can anyone help?
