So in that case, 1+1=2.
So your answer for 4/5 + 8/9 is 2.

The question they are asking us to solve is 5x (2 3/5),
First we don't have to do much with the 5 we have really. So the first number is just going to be 5.

we don't need to do much with the 3/5, do we? BUT! the 2, we can do SOMETHING with it. Can't we?
So, we TAKE 5x2 and it GVIES us 10. So, the answer for the question is,
10 3/5.
3 2/3= 2/3=1+3=4
4 1/8=1/8=0+4=4
3 1/4=1/4=0+3=3
Then, add 4+4+3, you get 11.

So we first start estimating. You can use a number line if you would like but for this question, looking at it I already know the answer.
First,
17/18 rounded is going to a whole. Which is written as 1. (17/18= 1)

then for 3/7, it gets a little tricky. First we look at 3/7. well, it doesn't need to be that complicated if you think about it, 3/7 rounded is going to be 0.
So in that case, we add 1+0=1.
So for number 1 (The question), your answer is going to be 1.
For short,
Question 1- Answer is 2
Question 2- Answer is 1
Question 3- Answer is 10 3/5
Question 4- Answer is 9
Question 5- (The one where is says Mr. Garcia's) Answer is 11.
