When line AB is dilated with a scale factor of 3 and a center of dilation at the origin, line A'B' will be three times as long as line AB and will be parallel to line AB. The orientation of the line will remain the same, but it will be three times farther away from the origin.
If line AB is dilated with a scale factor of 1/3, then line A'B' will be one third as long as line AB and will still be parallel to line AB. The orientation of the line will remain the same, but it will be one third as far away from the origin.
