Acceleration is directly proportional to force and inversely proportional to mass according to Newton's second law (F = ma). Since the force is consistent in both trials, the acceleration should be four times as much in the second trial where the mass is 0.5 kg compared to the first trial where the mass is 2.0 kg. Therefore, the accelerometer should read an acceleration of 1.6 m/s².
