With a shorter winter due to the average temperature increase, the advantage of having white fur for camouflage in the snow diminishes. This could lead to predators being able to more easily spot and catch white-furred rabbits, causing their population to decline relative to the brown-furred rabbits who may have an advantage in the changing environment.
