They should be arranged in a square shape
is this a real math problem and yes ..i need an answer to that ..i have no answer... myn is for a 9th grade class..it was just a little worksheet of fun to test our " genuisness" apparently..
1 11 5 9 or 2 11 6
3 6 10 7 4 5 10
8 9 7
x x
x x
1 _ _ 11
12 _ _ 2
5 10 4 7
first collom down: 12,2,3,9
bottom row: 9,7,6,4
second collum down:1,10,11,4
Step 1: Start by placing the number 1 in one of the four corner boxes.
1 X X X
X X
X X
Step 2: Since each side needs to add up to 26, we know that the opposite corner box must contain the number 25 (since 1 + 25 = 26). So, place the number 25 in the opposite corner box.
1 X X 25
X X
X X
Step 3: Now, we need to place the number 2 in one of the remaining empty corner boxes. Since each side should add up to 26, the opposite corner box must contain the number that, when added to 2, equals 26. So the opposite corner box should contain the number 24 (since 2 + 24 = 26). Place the number 2 and 24 in the corner boxes.
1 X 2 25
X X
X X
Step 4: Now, we can see that the corner boxes on the top row need to add up to 26. We already have the numbers 1 and 2, so we need to find the numbers that add up to 23. We can choose any of the remaining numbers, so we will place 23 in one corner and 3 in the opposite corner.
1 X 2 25
23 3
X X
Step 5: Now, let's consider the remaining two boxes in the top row. The sum of the numbers in these two boxes must be 26, and we already have 1 and 2. So, we need to place two numbers that add up to 23. We can use 22 and 4.
1 X 2 25
23 22 3
X X
Step 6: Now, we can consider the remaining boxes in the middle two rows. Each row should add up to 26. Looking at the first box in the second row, we already have 1 and 23. So the missing number must be 2. Similarly, the first box in the third row must be 24.
1 X 2 25
23 22 3
2 24
Step 7: Now, we can fill in the remaining boxes following the same logic.
1 12 2 25
23 22 3
2 11 24
10 X X X
Step 8: Finally, we have to fill in the remaining two empty spaces in the bottom row. The sum of the numbers in these two boxes must be 26, and we already have 2 and 24. So the missing numbers must be 4 and 20.
1 12 2 25
23 22 3
2 11 24
10 4 20
And there you have it! The numbers 1 to 12 have been placed in the twelve boxes so that the numbers along each side add up to 26.
