Both viruses and bacteria are microscopic organisms that can cause diseases in humans. However, they differ in various ways. Bacteria are considered living organisms because they have their own genetic material, can reproduce independently, and can metabolize nutrients for energy. They are also able to live and multiply outside of host organisms. On the other hand, viruses are considered non-living because they lack the ability to reproduce or carry out metabolic processes on their own. They can only replicate inside host cells by hijacking the host's cellular machinery. Additionally, unlike bacteria, viruses do not have their own cellular structure or organelles.
