Determining a speaker's intended audience is important because it helps tailor the message to the specific group and can influence the effectiveness of communication.

Yes, you are absolutely right. Understanding the intended audience is crucial for effective communication. When the speaker identifies the target audience, they can focus on using language and examples that the audience can relate to, and select appropriate communication channels and methods. The speaker can also address the concerns, interests, and needs of the audience, making the message more relevant and persuasive. Identifying the intended audience can help create a personalized and engaging communication experience, leading to better understanding and collaboration between the speaker and the audience.

Think of a health issue that you would like to research. In 3–5 sentences, describe how you would create and use search terms effectively to find information. Include the specific search terms and share how you would make sure the information is reliable.(4 points)

If I were to research a health issue such as Type 2 Diabetes, I would start by selecting reliable sources such as the CDC, World Health Organization, or Mayo Clinic. To create effective search terms, I would use keywords related to the topic such as Insulin Resistance, Blood Sugar, Diet, Exercise, and Lifestyle. Additionally, I would include relevant synonyms and medical terms such as Hyperglycemia, Metabolic Syndrome, and Glucose Tolerance. To ensure information reliability, I would use criteria such as source authority, accuracy, bias, currency, and support. I would prioritize sources that are peer-reviewed, updated recently, and based on scientific evidence and empirical research.

Mary wants to paraphrase a source in her essay. In 1–2 sentences, explain to Mary how to paraphrase to avoid plagiarism.(2 points)

To paraphrase a source in your essay, you need to rephrase the original text in your own words while maintaining the meaning and keeping the same message. It is essential to avoid using too many words or copying phrases from the original source, instead, you should focus on capturing its essence. You may also consider citing the source and acknowledging the author to avoid plagiarism.

Read the prompt on page 4 about reading the novel Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. Then use what you have learned in the lesson to gather relevant information about the artist who created the illustrations. Find information form at least 3 credible print and digital sources. For each source, do the following:

Identify it as a print or digital source.
Provide a citation.
Write a sentence to explain why the source is credible.

I'm sorry, I don't understand what you mean by "that guy". Could you please provide me with more context so I can better assist you?

I apologize but as an AI language model, I don't have a way to access any page or sources to conduct a research on this topic. However, I can provide you with general information on how to evaluate and find credible sources for research purposes.

To evaluate the credibility of sources, you should consider the author's credentials, the publication date, the source's objectivity, and its relevancy to their subject. Print sources such as books, academic journals, and newspapers typically offer more in-depth and peer-reviewed information, while digital sources such as online articles, research databases, and academic websites offer more up-to-date and easier to access information.

Once you choose your sources, it is extremely important to cite them properly to avoid plagiarism and to give credit to the original sources. There are many different citation styles such as APA, MLA, and Chicago style, each with different formatting rules which you should familiarize yourself with before starting your research.

I hope this general information is helpful. Let me know if you have any other specific questions I can help you with.

can you research the author of alice's adventures in wonderland

Of course! The author of "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" is Lewis Carroll, a pseudonym for Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, a British mathematician, writer, and logician. Lewis Carroll was born on January 27, 1832, in Daresbury, Cheshire, England, and died on January 14, 1898, in Guildford, Surrey, England.

After studying mathematics at Oxford University, Carroll became a mathematics tutor at the university. He wrote several mathematical textbooks and treatises, but he is best known for his imaginative literary works, including "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" (1865) and its sequel, "Through the Looking-Glass" (1871). These works continue to inspire readers of all ages and have frequently been adapted for the stage and screen.

Use the claim and evidence to complete the activity.

Claim: People have many voting options if they can’t get to the polls on Election Day.

Evidence: People can cast their ballot early or by mail.

In 1–2 sentences, evaluate the relevance and sufficiency of the evidence in the argument above to determine if the claim is or is not convincing.

(2 points)

The evidence provided is relevant that people can cast their ballots early or by mail to support the claim that people have many voting options if they can't get to the polls on Election Day. However, the evidence is insufficient as it only presents two voting options and does not provide more detailed or diverse evidence to further the argument. Including additional information such as absentee voting, same-day voter registration, or mobile voting would strengthen the argument and make it more convincing.

Halls of Zadimus Wraith, Lichville, January 3rd, 1557, AK

Zadimus stood on a small, rounded parapet of black obsidian, painted with a golden five-pointed star in the center. Zadimus could just stand there in the center of his portal, he had designed it himself, a portal which could teleport himself anywhere in Lichville, his magical realm. Unfortunately, it could not teleport him back, and fortunately he had not needed to use it for a long time. Only once had he used it, and that was in testing.

He had had little trouble constructing the portal, he was Zadimus Wraith. People trembled at his very name; he was also known as the Immortal One. Some peoples even worshipped him, offering him gold and silver of their own free will.

But Zadimus did not care. He cared more about his wife who had died hundreds of years ago. Yes, Zadimus was an undying, he could not die. But he could feel pain, and he felt much, more than an ordinary person could bare in his heart.

A bell rang at the great iron door, carved in inscriptions and runes. Zadimus came down from his portal, his long red robes sailed in the breeze behind him like a flag in the wind.

“Who is it?” Zadimus called, as he came over to the windows which was to the right of the portal, the door was to the left opposite him.

Seven windows lined the wall, each one showed the countryside below, rolling hills, glistening ponds, and small farms lay stretched out before him, all of it—was his, under his guidance.

“Lord Wizard! Immortal One!” A raspy voice like that of a bones rattling said, and no doubt its bearer was indeed a skeleton, “A messenger from—ha, somewhere. I cannot say.”

“Send him in,” Zadimus said annoyed, “And next time keep the messenger waiting I was in deep thought! If you ruin my train of thought once more in the next thousand years—I will plop you back into the grave.”

“Yes master,” The skeleton’s head popped through the parted door, “I will send him in.”

The skeleton left, and Zadimus could hear the feet of his dead doorman receding on the obsidian floor without. He turned his attention back to the windows, overlooking his magical realm. It was always nice there, in winter only a little snow fell, and did not fall the rest of the year.

A gentle breeze sailed through Zadimus’ long black hair, blowing it in his face. He had to untangle it from his short stubby beard.

Then the sound of something outside his door made him shut all seven windows. He strode with purpose towards the black iron doors.

“May I come in?” A voice asked, it was evil, cold, cruel, like freezing water or roaring magma on a peaceful glade. Zadimus shivered, it was evil, but so was he. After all, wizards were evil, but he had become one none the less.

“You may come in,” Zadimus confirmed, and he watched as a black skinny head, with only a few hairs like a vulture’s crept in.

He stunk like a corpse, Zadimus should have known, he had had firsthand experiences with walking bodies. His face twisted into a curved black beak like a hook, rather than a nose. Its nostrils seemed to flare every few seconds, its eyes were yellow and emotionless. It had gleaming black feathers across it’s frail arms and it’s long stick legs. It’s feet and hands ended in yellow claws, which seemed caked with dry blood.

The stinking corpse-like bird, walked with a crouch, like a sand trasnos. Zadimus had had his fair share of those desert dwellers.

“I take it my presence is not liked here?” The bird-beast asked, it’s tongue was black and seemly corroded with black mold.

“You may sit,” Zadimus waved his hand, and a troop of some six skeletons marched in, they set before them two chairs of black iron, and an iron table. Zadimus waved them away and sat the Bird-Beast followed suit.

“Ah! The comforts of being a great lord!” The Bird-Beast said, “You know what I am don’t you?”

“You are a Canavar,” Zadimus shifted uneasily in his seat.

“Then you no doubt know why I am here,” the Canavar said, tapping the table with a gnarled claw, “To destroy the Magnas, we my people need allies. Seeing that you do not like the magnas I think you might be willing to hear me out.”

Zadimus knew well, there were “Five Tiers of Existence,” which he knew, 1) Super good, 2) Good, 3) Neutral, 4) Evil, and 5) Super Evil. The difference between Evil and Super Evil was simple. Wizards and others peoples, cults and gatherings that were evil usually wanted to, destroy Aerd, cover it in darkness or kill everyone.

Super Evil wanted everyone to be kept alive but wanted to promote the seven vices throughout the world. Luckily, the magnas placed curses on those sins. Zadimus himself had been punished in that manner, he had grown angry and burnt an entire village, killing many. At first he did not regret it, but then when he outlived everyone, kings, servants, and a few “friends” and later his own wife all died, and he could not, and was left in such sorrow.

“Cut to the offer,” Zadimus said with a sigh, if he felt kind he would let the canavar go, if not he would kill him, and if he was in a really bad mood he would torture him for a few thousand years.

“Ah! Yes! The offer!” The canavar said as if he had totally forgotten and was just having a nice little chat with an annoyed wizard, “If you will offer your undead army to us whenever we need it, we will pay you with three things.”

Zadimus nodded, “And those three things are?”

“First we appoint you Lord of the White Vale in power only under the great seven canavar chiefs!” The canavar was shouting loudly, his voice filled the chamber, “Knees will bow in worship! You will become a god!”

“According to the masses,” Zadimus said calmly, “I am already an idol of their worship, why should I care? And beyond that, I do not care about the White Vale, if I wanted it, I would already have it.”

“Well,” The canavar said, “We will aid in your revenge against your enemies, the Magnas! They will pay for harming you! CAW! CAW!” That must have been the canavar’s way of laughing.

“I have deserved this,” Zadimus said wistfully, “I hold no grudge against them and wish them only good.”

The canavar snorted in disgust, “But what about the last thing? Would you not aid in the death of the Magnas for a loved one? For Blue—.”

“Don’t you say it!” Zadimus cried, suddenly tears sprang to his eyes like river water from a spring.

“Yes, yes, yes,” The canavar said in cooing tones, as he rose from his chair and stood over the wizard who wept into his robe, “The Magnas were unkind to do that to you. They knew you would live forever, but they let her die, they let her rot. You should not have to go through this. With the death or defeat of the Magnas, we will resurrect her, you will have her again. You will have Blue-Rose.”

Zadimus stopped, he trembled in rage and slowly stood up, he stared the canavar in its dull, unforgiving eyes, “I am angered by what happened yes. But she would not want me to join the canavar, the evilest beings in existence.”

The canavar screeched his disapproval, whilst flapping his black wings which protruded from his back, why he did that Zadimus did not know, “CAAAW!” Zadimus stood up and with a cry, he smote the canavar’s face with his yellow glowing fist. The canavar fell to the ground and groaned.

“I told you not to say her name,” Zadimus said, surprisingly calm, “Now begone!” He raised his hand and a sword of flame appeared in his fist, crackling, and hissing and otherwise begging the wizard to split the canavar’s skull, “Or I will kill you.”

“You are a fool, I will one day have revenge,” the canavar threatened, as he tried to get up with his yellow claws, “You will be sorry, no land for you. No revenge for you. Better yet no—Blue-Rose.”

“I told you never to say that!” Zadimus screamed, and with the roaring blade he sliced the canavar’s neck, the head rolled to the ground and Zadimus kicked it out the parted door.

He stared at the headless corpse in front of him, “Guards!” He said, and skeletons rushed into the room, “Clean this up,” he waved his hand and walked back to his portal, deep in thought about his beloved.
