Exposition: The exposition of the story is the introduction of the main character, Lara Jean, and her life as a teenage girl.
Conflict: The conflict arises when the letters that Lara Jean has written to all of her past crushes are mysteriously sent out, including one to her sister's ex-boyfriend, Josh.
Rising Action(s): In the rising action, Lara Jean pretends to be in a relationship with another one of her past crushes, Peter, to avoid any awkwardness with Josh. As they continue to pretend to be in a relationship, they start to develop real feelings for each other.
Climax: The climax occurs when Lara Jean and Peter kiss in a hot tub during a school ski trip, but soon after, Lara Jean finds out that Peter had initially started dating her as part of a scheme to make his ex-girlfriend jealous.
Falling Action: The falling action centers around Lara Jean and Peter's relationship as she deals with the fallout of his scheme and tries to figure out her true feelings for him.
Resolution: In the resolution, Lara Jean ultimately decides that she has feelings for Peter and they get back together. She also confronts Josh about her feelings and tells him that she's ready to move on.
