The health of the Ogallala Aquifer is declining due to over-pumping and drought. The aquifer is being depleted faster than it can be replenished, leading to a decrease in water levels and a decrease in water quality. In some areas, the water levels have dropped more than 100 feet since the 1950s. Conservation efforts are being implemented to help slow the depletion of the aquifer, but it is still a major concern.
