Would it not be easier just to say:

(6/7) / (3/14) ?

= (6/7)(14/3)
= 84/21
= 4

Of course, once changed to multiplication,
I would have divided top and bottom by 7 , then divided top and
bottom by 3, leaving me with 4

To find the quotient of two fractions, you need to divide the numerator (the top number) of the first fraction by the numerator of the second fraction, and divide the denominator (the bottom number) of the first fraction by the denominator of the second fraction.

In this case, you are given the fractions:

6/7 and 3/14

To divide the numerators, you perform the following calculation:

6 Ă· 3 = 2

To divide the denominators, you perform the following calculation:

7 Ă· 14 = 1/2

Therefore, the quotient of the two fractions is 2 Ă· 1/2.

To simplify this division, you multiply the numerator by the reciprocal of the denominator:

2 Ă— 2/1 = 4/1

So, the quotient of the fractions 6/7 and 3/14 is 4.
