Watch almost any documentary on World War II, and it is a sure bet that at some point the droll-sounding narrator will declare something to have, “…changed the course of the war.” The thing is: every event has a turning point, a point where the end result becomes inevitable and not just probable. So, if you are the producer of the television show WORLD AT WAR 3D, and you have to plan out the episode entitled “Turning Point”, what exactly goes in that episode?

@Oreo Thank you soo much, this helped me out. Now I have an idea of what I'm gonna write.

I think all of our answers are right. I agree with you @Anon, there are different events that happened in WWll.

WW2 was well underway before Dec 7, 1941 Japan had run all over the East and Germany had defeated most of Europe (including France) and was preparing to invade England after their devastating bombing campaign. Italy had driven most of the European colonists out of Africa and Germany was helping them. The only place they were having real trouble was Russia. Bringing the United States into the war changed everything.

By the way Oreo, your position and argument are good. I hope between us we have given the student some ideas.

@Anonymous Thank you! and I bet we did give them an idea. Your answer was really good and probably made more sense XD.

@PsyDag um you could help me a little though

To me "Turning Point" reminds me of the climax of a story or event. I think the episode would be when Hitler invaded Poland, France and Britain declared war on Germany in September 1939. Following the conquest of Poland, Germany launched attacks on France. France fell to the Nazis in June 1940, and the Nazis quickly conquered the rest of Europe and North Africa.

@Paper your welcome! heres something else that might help you out a little more.

The Battle of Stalingrad is widely regarded as the turning point in World War II. In 1942, Hitler dispatched an army south to seize the Soviet Russian city of Stalingrad, which had been renamed after the Soviet commander.

I think it was Pearl Harbor. Germany and Japan and Italy were doomed after that.

@Anonymous you are correct about Germany, Japan, and Italy, but Pearl Harbor was the beginning of World War ll. The turning point would be in the middle of the war or close to the end.

Many historians consider the Battle of Stalingrad to be the turning point in Europe during World War II. The battle of Stalingrad drained the German army dry in Russia, and the German army was in full retreat following this disaster.
