I would say 2 parts

but if you want to know how many equal subdivisions that makes, then it would be 2+5 = 7

Imagine a 7" ruler split into two parts, of 2" and 5"
that means it has been split into two parts.
But considering the 1" sections of the ruler, that involves seven 1" sections.
