Hi I need help with my homework,

c+9-3(c-10)>1
Here’s what I’ve got so far:
C+9-3(c-10)>1
C+9-3c-30>1
I did distributive property so I think that I have to combine like numbers which would be 9 and -30 so -21 but where do I put that number? Here’s my best shot at the question but I don’t know if it’s right. If someone could walk me through the steps that would be great.

C-21-3c>1
C-21-3c+21>1-21
C-3c>-20
C-3c-c>-20-c
3c>-20
3c/3>-20/3
Answer: c>-6.66

Please help me<3

Why are you using C and c for the obvious same variable ??

my steps:
c+9-3(c-10)>1
c + 9 - 3c + 30 > 1
-2c + 39 > 1
-2c > -38
divide both sides by -2, recall that when multiplying or dividing by
a negative, we must reverse the inequality sign
c < 19

I have copied your steps and marked the lines containing errors based on the previous lines with **

c+9-3(c-10)>1
Here’s what I’ve got so far:
C+9-3(c-10)>1
C+9-3c-30>1 **
C-21-3c>1
C-21-3c+21>1-21 **
C-3c>-20
C-3c-c>-20-c , why?
3c>-20 **
3c/3>-20/3 **
Answer: c>-6.66 **

You seem very confused.
The rules for inequations are the same as those
for equations, EXCEPT for the part about multiplying or dividing both sides by a negative. This usually only happens in the very last step in your solution.

Both the c’s are the same. My phone auto capitalize the c it does the same for you. So did I get it right or wrong?

To solve the inequality C + 9 - 3(C - 10) > 1, let's break it down step by step:

1. Start by distributing the -3 to both terms inside the parentheses:
C + 9 - 3C + 30 > 1

2. Combine like terms on the left side of the equation:
C - 3C + 9 + 30 > 1

Simplify:
-2C + 39 > 1

3. Next, subtract 39 from both sides of the inequality to isolate the term with C on one side:
-2C + 39 - 39 > 1 - 39

Simplify:
-2C > -38

4. Now, divide both sides of the inequality by -2. Remember, when you divide an inequality by a negative number, the direction of the inequality sign flips:
(-2C)/-2 < (-38)/-2

Simplify:
C < 19

Therefore, the correct solution to the inequality C + 9 - 3(C - 10) > 1 is C < 19.
