A triangle has a height of 6 feet and an area of 48 feet squared. What is the length of its base?
Im thinking maybe 8 because 6 times 8 is 48
Please help
True, but the area is 1/2 base * height
To find the length of the base of a triangle, you can use the formula for the area of a triangle:
Area = (1/2) * base * height
In this case, you are given that the height is 6 feet and the area is 48 square feet. Plugging these values into the formula:
48 = (1/2) * base * 6
To solve for the base, you need to isolate it on one side of the equation.
Divide both sides of the equation by (1/2) * 6 to cancel out the multiplication:
48 / [(1/2) * 6] = base
Simplifying the expression:
48 / 3 = base
16 = base
So, the length of the base of the triangle is 16 feet, not 8.
