If point A is located at (-7,5) on a coordinate plane, and point B is located at (4,5), what is the distance between the 2 points?
This is not helping my work at all basically I got on my test for work then t didn't give me the right answer instead I had got it wrong all I was doing is giving my paper to my teacher then she had gave it back then said that I had got it wrong. I don't like this because it didn't give the right answer I need new information :/
this is wrong it didnt give me the right answer
They do mot give you the right answer at all
To find the distance between two points in a coordinate plane, we can use the distance formula. The distance formula is based on the Pythagorean theorem and is given by:
d = √((x2 - x1)^2 + (y2 - y1)^2)
In this case, the coordinates of point A are (-7,5), and the coordinates of point B are (4,5). Plugging these values into the distance formula, we have:
d = √((4 - (-7))^2 + (5 - 5)^2)
Simplifying,
d = √((4 + 7)^2 + 0^2)
d = √(11^2 + 0)
d = √(121)
d = 11
Therefore, the distance between point A and point B is 11 units.
difference in x = 4 - -7 = 11
difference in y = 5 - 5 = 0 (horizontal line between them, same y)
so it is 11
but officially
d^2 = 11^2 + 0 ^2 = 121
so
d = 11
