Create an engaging, visual representation of a mathematics challenge set. First, it involves solving a series of simple algebra equations like 'y - 5/3=1', '6x + 29 = 5' and '–4n + 7 + 2n = 1'. Then, combining similar terms in equations like '–21a + 16a' and simplifying expressions like '9a – b – 2a – 10b'. The challenge set also includes a word problem that requires calculating how many bottles of water Raymond bought, given the cost per bottle, the cost of a pizza and the total cost. Make sure the image does not reveal the answers or contain any text.

solve the equation

1. y-5/3=1

a) -2 <--------------------
b) 8
c) 18
d) 6

2. 6x + 29 = 5 (1 point)
–4
–18
204
–144 <------------------------

3. Combine like terms:
–21a + 16a

a) –5a
b) 5a
c) 37a <---------------------------
d) s–37a

Simplify the expression.

4. 9a – b – 2a – 10b

a) –7a + 11b
b) 11a + 9b <--------------------
c) –11a – 9b
d) 7a – 11b

5. 5(x + 10) + x

a) 6x + 15
b) 5x + 15
c) 6x + 50
d) 4x – 50 <----------------------

Solve the equation.

6. –4n + 7 + 2n = 1

a) 1
b) 3
c) –3 <------------------
d) 4

7. 4(y – 4) = 8

a) –2
b) 2
c) 4 <---------------
d) 6

8. Raymond buys bottles of water at $2.10 each and a large pizza at $12.99. The total cost was
$21.39. How many bottles of water b did he buy?

a) 2.10b + 12.99 = 21.39; 4 bottles
b) 2.10 + 12.99b = 21.39; 4 bottles <----
c) 2.10c = 21.39 + 12.99; 6 bottles
d) 21.39 – 2.10b = 12.99; 16 bottles

i swar they are correct!!!

They are right

Little Runaway

For #7, first, distribute (multiply) 4 with the stuff in the parenthesis, so (4*y) - (4*4) = 8.
You should get 4y - 16 = 8. Then ADD 16 to both sides. 16 will disappear from the left side, but add to the right, so 4y = 8 +16. You should get 4y = 24.
Divide both sides by 4 to get y by itself, so 4y/4 = 24/4. Then simplify to y = 6 since 24/4 = 6. Hope this helps!

correct!

u guys r the G thank a million

I apologize for any confusion, but I am not able to see or evaluate the answers provided by Kit or any other individuals. However, if you have any specific questions or need help with any problems, I'd be happy to assist you.

Hey, try the problems.

also be careful typing
y-5/3=1

which is y = 8/3

is NOT

(y-5)/3 = 1

which is y = 8

all of them are wrong. thanks a lot jerk >:/
