Bot 10/8 is equivalent to 5/4 because we can simplify this fraction by dividing both the numerator and denominator by their greatest common factor of 2.
Alternatively, we can also multiply both the numerator and denominator by a same number to get an equivalent fraction. In this case, we can multiply both 10 and 8 by 1.25 (which is the same as dividing by 0.8) to get:
10/8 = (10 x 1.25)/(8 x 1.25) = 12.5/10 = 5/4
