I'm wrong and both of your answers are also wrong. Sorry.
Scott is right.
After she withdraws 100 from 82.18, she owes $17.82. Then she also has to pay the $33 fee.
$33 + $17.82 = $50.82

To calculate the new balance in the checking account, we need to subtract the withdrawal amount and the fee from the current balance. Here's how we would do it:
1. Start with the current balance: $82.18
2. Subtract the withdrawal amount: $82.18 - $100 = -$17.82
Since the bank allows withdrawing more than the balance, the resulting balance will be negative after the withdrawal.
3. Subtract the fee: -$17.82 - $33 = -$50.82
The bank charges a $33 fee, so we subtract that from the negative balance.
Therefore, the new balance in the account is -$50.82. Note that this indicates that the account is in an overdraft, meaning the account holder has withdrawn more money than they had available and now owes the bank.
