I'm currently writing an essay for university but have a slight problem with one of my references. The source comes from a book called Screen Violence which is a collection of essays, edited by Karl French. The piece that I am referencing from is an 'Interview with Karl French- June 1996' with Camille Paglia (the interview is conducted by French, questioning Paglia) and covers pages 35-51. How do you recommend I reference this? Do I reference French of Paglia?

I'm so confused! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Here's a good webpage with examples:

I just held my cursor over CITING SOURCES in the list on the left and then clicked on the category I wanted -- in this case, essay in a collection.

When referencing a specific piece from a book that is a collection of essays, it's important to provide accurate information to identify and locate the specific essay you are referencing. In your case, you need to reference the interview with Camille Paglia, which was conducted by Karl French in the book "Screen Violence."

To properly reference this source, follow these steps:

1. Start with the author of the specific essay, which in this case is Camille Paglia.

2. Provide the title of the specific essay or interview. Since it is an interview, you can use the title "Interview with Camille Paglia - June 1996".

3. Next, provide the name of the book in italics: "Screen Violence".

4. Mention that the book you are referencing is edited by Karl French. For example, you can state: "Edited by Karl French".

5. Include the publication information of the book, which typically includes the city of publication, the publisher's name, and the year of publication.

6. Finally, specify the range of pages from the book that the interview covers. In your case, it is pages 35-51.

Putting all this information together, a possible reference would look like this:

Paglia, Camille. "Interview with Camille Paglia - June 1996." In Screen Violence, edited by Karl French, 35-51. City: Publisher, Year.

Remember to replace "City", "Publisher", and "Year" with the actual information from the book.

When citing within your essay, you can simply mention the name of the person being interviewed (Camille Paglia) if you are discussing the content of the interview.

In the bibliography or reference list at the end of your essay, you can use the above format to provide a more detailed reference to the specific piece.
