Can someone correct these
(1) -5^2-3
25-3
22
(2) The sum of m and n, divided by the difference of m and n.
My answer: (m+n)/ (m-n)
(3) The quotient when 3 more than a number is divided by 3 less than that same number
My answer: (x+3)/(x-3)
These are all correct..
Trish,
the one about -5^2-3
-5^2 isn't it -25 or it is 25
Just 25, because it's -5 times -5. A negative times a negative is a positive.
Just remember that with negative numbers that have exponents, if the exponent is even, it will be +, and if the exponent is odd, it will be -.
The quotient when 3 more than a number is divided by 3 less than that same number
the sum of m and 3 divided by the
difference of m minus 3
The expression for the quotient would be: (x + 3) / (x - 3)
To find the quotient when 3 more than a number is divided by 3 less than that same number, you would use the equation:
(x + 3)/(x - 3)
Here, "x" represents the unknown number. To simplify the expression, you can use the distributive property:
(x + 3)/(x - 3) = x/(x - 3) + 3/(x - 3)
This expression cannot be simplified further unless you have a specific value for "x."
