I am doing my bachelors in forensic science semester two...

I would like to know any common topics one may write over 30pages for a research or term paper in regard with forensic science.

i tried body language and anti-social behaviour, though this topic does not really suit me, after introduction i am stuck where to go about it....

i am now trying forensic linguistics, and will have the weekend to search material on to determine whether the topic is interesting for 30 pages and more

however i would like to know more ideas, if anyone could contribute..

Thanks,
Farah A.

Read widely, even if you think a linked article isn't about topics. You never know where you'll find a good idea.

Also ... what in the world are you doing trying to write an intro to a paper that hasn't been researched and planned and written yet? If you follow the research and writing process, you'll do a far better job.

Prewriting: Brainstorm, research, plan, outline, thesis statement

Writing: Write first draft by starting with section II of your outline; write the introduction after the body of the paper is written; write the conclusion last.

Polishing: Revise, concentrating first on the body of the paper, then the intro, then the concl (revision = making sure ideas are logical and sequential and support your thesis); proofread (spelling, grammar, usage, etc.)

Do you have a thesis yet? Have you done your brainstorming (and maybe research) yet? Have you written an outline?

Hi Farah A.! Choosing a research topic for your term paper in forensic science can be challenging, but there are numerous interesting areas to explore. Here are some common topics that can provide ample material for a 30-page research paper:

1. DNA Profiling and its Forensic Applications: Investigate the methods and significance of DNA profiling in forensic investigations. You can discuss the techniques, limitations, historical cases, and recent advancements.

2. Crime Scene Investigation Techniques: Explore various techniques and technologies used in crime scene investigations, such as fingerprint analysis, trace evidence examination, blood spatter analysis, and ballistics.

3. Forensic Anthropology: Discuss the role of forensic anthropology in identifying skeletal remains, determining time and cause of death, and understanding patterns of injuries.

4. Digital Forensics: Investigate the methods used to extract and analyze digital evidence from computers, mobile devices, and networks. Topics may include cybercrime, data recovery, and encryption.

5. Forensic Entomology: Explore how the study of insects can aid in determining the time of death and other aspects of a crime scene investigation.

6. Forensic Odontology: Discuss the examination of dental evidence in forensic investigations, including bite mark analysis and dental identification.

7. Bloodstain Pattern Analysis: Study the interpretation of bloodstains to reconstruct the events of a crime, including the height and angle of impact, the type of weapon used, and the movement of individuals in the crime scene.

8. Forensic Toxicology: Investigate the role of toxicology in forensic science, focusing on the analysis of drugs, poisons, and other chemical substances in the body.

9. Forensic Psychology: Examine the intersection between psychology and the law, including topics such as criminal profiling, eyewitness testimony, and the assessment of a defendant's mental state.

10. Forensic Pathology: Explore the role of forensic pathologists in determining the cause and manner of death, conducting autopsies, and providing expert testimony in court.

Remember, once you choose your topic, it is essential to conduct extensive research using academic databases, journals, and scholarly books. This will help you gather relevant information and develop a comprehensive understanding of your chosen subject. Good luck with your research!
