The cell membrane is a highly selective barrier that controls the movement of substances in and out of the cell. In fact, polar molecules are unable to go across unless

A. they are enclosed in water-filled vesicles.

B. they pass through channels in the cell membrane.

C. they are broken down into smaller pieces.

D. they react with other substances to become nonpolar.

It's B I Got This Question On Study Island And Listened To This Guy Above And Got It Wrong. Its B

Marissia is correct. It is B.

B. they pass through channels in the cell membrane.

Water is a polar molecule so it can go through the cell membrane but only by the openings/channels. So the answer is B and I also had this question on Study Island.

B

Any one who says different, either
1) doesn't know what they are talking about
or
2)
just want to watch you get it wrong.

If you want to answer a question like this please research before you post so that way other people will get it right.
Thanks! :)

I got B

ANSWER: they pass through channels in the cell membrane

same i got B i thought my teacher was making up these question... but it turns out he just copied a study island.

The reason people are getting B & D is because Study Island changes answer order. Also, you shouldn't be posting Study Island Question online. You don't know who is giving you the answer, you should ask your teacher to explain if you don't understand.

i got D
