  1. HCl + NaOH ==>NaCl + H2O

    moles HCl to start: M x L = 0.050 x 0.10 = 0.005 moles HCl.
    moles NaOH to start: M x L = 0.040 x 0.1 = 0.004 moles NaOH.

    All of the NaOH is used. We have 0.005-0.004 moles = 0.001 moles HCl remain unreacted (HCl) = 0.001 moles/0.100 L = 0.01 M HCl.

    Since HCl is a strong acid, it ionizes 100%; therefore, (H^+) = 0.01 and the pH is ??
