I personally can't think of any reasons in today's world on the positive side of that idea. Being an "old " feminist may have something to do with that <G>

Just to play devil's advocate --
Most Americans choose a spouse and marry when they are in their early 20s. As we all know, young people don't always use the best judgment in choosing a spouse. I don't know what the divorce rate is today -- but a large percentage (30%??) of U.S. marriages end in divorce. Young people get blinded by love and infatuation and often don't really think about raising a family and spending many years together. Although I'm also a strong feminist, for the good of the married couple and the community, sometimes parents make wiser decisions.

Ms. Sue is right. 37.4% of marriages end up in divorce.
