Market failure

Market failure occurs when the free market system fails to allocate resources efficiently. This can happen when there is an external cost or benefit associated with a good or service, or when there is a lack of perfect competition in the market. Examples of market failure include monopoly power, externalities, public goods, and information asymmetry.
