A visually captivating educational diagram illustrating the process of mitosis. The image should be opulently detailed, featuring the prominent stages including interphase, prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase. Distinctive and intricate visuals for chromosomes, centromeres, and spindle fibers should be included. Moreover, some map-like element or abstract representation of a map should subtly be integrated into each stage, representing the conceptual mapping of mitosis. Importantly, the image must remain free from any textual elements.

In three to five sentences, describe the advantages and disadvantages of these maps in modeling mitosis.

Raul is learning about fetal development but is confused about the role mitosis plays in the fetus growing. In 3-5 sentences explain what mitosis does in fetal development. Include how the same DNA is in every cell, and how the fetus grows in size. (4 points)

Mitosis is the reason the fetus grows. To do this, it doubles and splits chromosomes. By doing this, growth occurs. Most of the fetus will be born in the 40 weeks of pregnancy, but really can accurately only about 5% of babies born in due two weeks in advance or delay two weeks are normal.

In three to five sentences, explain the advantage of keeping some DNA needed by mitochondria in the cell’s nucleus and some in the mitochondria itself.(4 points)

Mitochondrial DNA is the small circular chromosome present inside the cell organelle called mitochondria used for energy production. This type of DNA passes from the mother to the offspring. Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) has several advantages over nuclear DNA such as, species identification purposes including a higher copy number lack of sequence ambiguities from heterozygous genotypes faster rate of mutation

In 3–5 sentences, construct a summary of the process of gene expression, starting with DNA and ending with proteins.(4 points)

The process of gene expression starts with the transcription of the genetic information in the DNA into genetic codes in the form of messenger RNA. The messenger RNA then undergoes some processing such as modification of tails and removal of non-coding sequence before the genetic codes are translated to their respective amino acids in a process known as translation. The amino acids are linked together by peptide bonds and the resulting primary protein structure is folded in specific ways depending on their functions.

In three to five sentences, describe the advantages and disadvantages of these maps in modeling mitosis.

Maps have the advantage of objectivity and presentation of all phases of mitosis, but their disadvantage is the suppression of information, which can confuse students. A scientific model (or map) must be able to present a scientific process or element as it actually occurs, or as close to it. These maps should be objective, direct, and well explained, allowing students to understand what they are presenting. About the maps presented in the question above, we can say that the first one presents the phases and results of mitosis in a very representative way, but it suppresses the name of the phases, which can confuse the student. The second one presents the name of the phases but does not show what happens in each one of them, which can also confuse the student.
