What is the equation for a circle given its center is at (4, -1) and its radius is 5?

(x - 4)2 + (y + 1)2 = 25
(x + 4)2 + (y - 1)2 = 25
(x - 4)2 + (y + 1)2 = 5
(x + 1)2 + (y - 4)2 = 25

The answer is A.

The first one is the answer.

for a circle centered at (h,k) with radius r ... (x - h)^2 + (y - k)^2 = r^2

so which equation is it then??

Surely you can match up the equations to the general form that

R_scott gave you.

e.g. the third one is automatically out, since r^2 = 25 , not 5
etc

it’s (x-4)2 + (y+1)2=25

Never mind, I figured it out. Thank you anyway! :)
