planets in our solar system travel in their own orbital paths around the sun. what causes the planets to continuously orbit the sun instead of floating away into space?

help please

"The gravity of the Sun keeps the planets in their orbits. "

This was in the link that was shared by Writeacher

Think about this. If the planets will float away into space why wouldn't earth, a planet, float away also?

If you can't find your answer from what Writeacher sent you it's because you didn't read that link. The last sentence in the FIRST paragraph is your answer. I have copied it here.

"The gravity of the Sun keeps the planets in their orbits. They stay in their orbits because there is no other force in the Solar System which can stop them."

The Sun's large mass causes it to have significant gravitational force, holding planets in their orbital paths.

Comprehending is the MAJOR part of reading. Reading is not just being able to pronounce the words, but also understanding those words.

Please ask your teacher about a reading comprehension class for yourself.

thanks but I did read her/he link I just couldn't comprehend it sorry

Writeacher I believe that was a good link it also helped me.

hey guy it's because of the sun's gravitational pull so there your answer

If all the planets are moving away from the sun then how did the sun ever draw planets in , over time the sun is supposed to get bigger creating more gravity so this should make a grater pull , honestly I think you all who think you know things really know nothing at at all
