90 ÷ [10 + (3^2 -4)]

(I don't need the answer, but I would just like to know how to figure out the answer by myself)

90 ÷ [10 + (3^2 -4)]

= 90 ÷ [10 + (9 -4)]
= 90 ÷ [10 + (5)]
= 90 ÷ [15]
= 6

Well follow PEMDAS

So first solve in the parenthesis
(3^2-4) now we focus on E for exponents
3 to the second power is 3 times 3 9
9-4=5
Now we solve brackets still using the PEMDAS 10+9=19 now the last step 90 divided by 19= 4.736 . I hope i did this right its like 10 am and I'm rushing.
Ratpack faor life

I don’t even know if I should take the risk….some of my teachers know when I use Jiskha:..if my parents found out…IM DEAD..

Wait... nvm I made a mistake the answer is 6

thank you everyone!!!

thank you-

I went wrong at 10+9 because 9-4 is 5 and I should have added 10+5 anyway hope it helps

You guys are a TON of help! Thank you!!

To simplify the expression using the order of operations, you need to follow these steps:

1. Evaluate any operations inside parentheses: (3^2 - 4).
Here, simplify the expression within the parentheses first.
* Calculate the exponent: 3^2 = 9.
* Subtract: 9 - 4 = 5.
So, the expression becomes 90 ÷ [10 + 5].

2. Next, within the brackets, evaluate the addition operation: 10 + 5.
* Add: 10 + 5 = 15.
Now, the expression is 90 ÷ 15.

3. Finally, perform the division operation: 90 ÷ 15.
* Divide: 90 ÷ 15 = 6.

So, the simplified expression is 6.
