  1. for question 1 is this better??

    1. What allowed settlers to Establish a colony in Texas?

For the economic perspective buying land at a much cheaper price it would help the settlers ensure a hopeful future. But in a Mexican perspective they were allowed to settle there because Mexico was trying to create a more powerful government and stay in control. In order to stay in control they decided to grant land to American settlers in hope to strengthen an alliance to retain power. However it backfired and the American’s gained more control.

  4. 3.How do you think the perspective of the Texas settlers and the Mexican government would vary?

I think in the perspective would vary because Mexico saw it as an invasion and an abuse of trust. While Settlers saw it as independence. Such as Mexico had only a few rules to settlers forming there but the settlers didn’t follow them. While settlers were used to there independence and believed that the rules weren’t good. S they rebelled and formed their own republic.

  8. Better?

In the beginning it was an alliance in hope that they would have a controlled government. As the war progressed the alliance faded because the settlers felt they had a right to be independent. After the war ended and the settlers won it became a bearable interaction

There was also the issue of religion. The Mexican govt required all settlers to be Catholic. How do you think that went over among the Anglo settlers? Read Bob Pursley's reply I linked for you (the second link).

  13. Where are you getting this invasion idea? Mexico's govt wanted Texas settled and worked with empresarios to bring Anglo settlers in. And "Mexico had only a few rules"? Really? That all the settlers needed to learn Spanish and become Catholic? Don't you think those were more than "only a few rules"?

The rest seems okay, but be sure you make sure you have no sentence fragments, runons, misspellings, etc. Read it aloud to your dad and find those fragments and runons, etc.

  18. PS -- for 2, the question isn't asking about after Texas won independence. It's asking how the Mexican govt vs Texas settlers arrangement/attitudes changed over time.

  19. Well, I don't know about invasion. Look at a map to see how far Mexico City is from Texas. Texas was land that Mexico couldn't get their own people to settle down in! Thus, they allowed Anglos from the US to do so -- if they followed Mexico's rules -- but of course, eventually they didn't.

Here's how I'd revise your last effort:

While Mexico's government expected the settlers to acquire the Mexican religion, politics, and language, the settlers did the opposite because they had been used to being independent. Offering free land in order to get settlers in Texas backfired on the government of Mexico.
