You may also want to read your assigned text materials. That sometimes helps, or so I am told. It's rare that you are asked to complete an assignment (or a quiz or test) that is not covered in your assigned reading.

Thanks so much

During WWI, the U.S government implemented various measures to manage the economy and address the needs of the war effort. The roles played by the Food Administration, War Industries Board, and the War Labor Board were crucial in this regard.

The Food Administration, led by Herbert Hoover, was established to ensure an adequate supply of food for both domestic consumption and military needs. It encouraged conservation and voluntary rationing, while also regulating food production and distribution. Their efforts aimed to ensure food stability in the nation and to support the troops overseas.

The War Industries Board, headed by Bernard Baruch, exercised control over industries related to war production. It regulated the allocation of resources, set production quotas, and coordinated purchasing. The board aimed to improve efficiency in the production of war matériel and other essential goods, promoting standardization and eliminating waste.

The War Labor Board, on the other hand, dealt with labor relations and disputes during wartime. It mediated between workers and employers, hearing grievances and addressing issues like wages, hours, and working conditions. Its purpose was to prevent strikes and maintain industrial stability, ensuring uninterrupted production for the war effort.

These three entities, alongside other governmental agencies, worked collaboratively to manage the economy during WWI. Their efforts were instrumental in mobilizing resources, coordinating production, and maintaining stable labor relations. The government's management of the economy had significant economic effects, such as increased production levels, improved efficiency, and higher levels of employment. It also brought about changes in consumer behavior and initiated the transformation of the U.S into a more centralized and regulated economy.
