If sin (theta) = sqrt5 / 3 and cos (theta) = 2 / 3 which of the following is tan (theta)?

for honors

1. a (sqrt5/2)
2. a (b=7.2, c=9.3)
3. b (0.4)
4. a (22°)
5. a (37.5 mi.)
6. c ([11pi]/9)
7. b (200°)
8. c (13.5 cm)
9. c (-3/5)
10. a (sqrt2/2)
11. c (sqrt3/3)
12. b (1)
13. b (pi/4)
14. a (-1/2)
15. d (IV)
16. d (undefined)

sqrt(5) / 2

Yep, honors student is right.

for this kind of problem, draw the right triangle.

cosθ = 2/3
means that the adjacent side is 2 and the hypotenuse is 3.

sinθ = √5/3
means that the opposite side is √5 and the hypotenuse is 3.

But, then you knew that already, since the opposite side would be
√(3^2-2^2) = √5

Si, since tanθ = opposite/adjacent, you have Damon's result.

Now it's time to review the basic trig functions, and then this kind of problem will be easy from now on!

Actually I just used the trig identity tan = sin/cos

same difference :)

Thank you honors student!!

Thank you! But Can you please explain to me how you got it or show ur work?

Thank u so much!!

Thank you honors student! Haven't been here in a long while. Man I missed this.
