In a box of chocolates,

•one-fifth are plain chocolate
•one-sixth are white chocolate
•the other 38 are milk chocolate.

How many chocolates are there in the box?

First, find the common factor of 5 and 6, which is 30. Therefore

1/5 and 1/6 = 5/30 and 6/30.
5/30 + 6/30 = 11/30.
So 11 out of 30 are plain or white, therefore 30 - 11 = 19, so 19 out of 30 are milk, which we already know is 38 chocs. So
38 / 19 = 2.
So, 19*2 = 38 and 30 * 2 = 60. So there are 60 chocs in the box.
Let's check:
38 chocs are milk.
60 - 38 = 22 chocs are plain or white.
1/5 of 60 is 12. These are the plain chocs.
1/6 of 60 is 10. these are the white ones.
38 + 12 + 10 = 60 chocs in total.
Ta-da!

Answer=60

1/5 of 60 = 12
1/6 of 60 = 10

Total = 22

22 + 38 = 60

It is 60

I don't get it

Mara George is a genius

So what's the answer because I don't fully understand

If there are x chocolates, then we see that

x(1 - 1/5 - 1/6) = 38

Now just solve for x

Whats the answer? Explain pls

how do u solve the equation

Thanks a lot this helped me pass my test
